We are very proud to share a ministry breakthrough! Delia and I (Vincent) were able to make a one week mission trip to Hai Phong, Vietnam. We were hosted by one of our disciples who is now based there. Some time ago, the Holy Spirit placed in my heart to hold meetings in Vietnam but the plan was postponed for a year due to lack of funds. But by the Grace of God, our friend and his wife in Vietnam sowed a seed for us to visit them and see the other side of the persecuted church. In Vietnam, we held the following meetings:
- We held a three-day Grace & Glory Seminar to demonstrate signs and wonders for underground pastors and leaders. We limited the meetings to twenty pastors and their leaders because of the danger of Bible gatherings but the number grew to thirty-six the first day and fifty the second day! To have a meeting of that size is very unusual, according to our interpreter. Some pastors and leaders travelled long distances by motorcycle and bicycle to attend the meetings. One pastor is being hunted in his province by the governor for holding church services. He attended our meetings and gave his testimony of the Lord's protection. We witnessed instant healings and restoration of families during the meetings. The delegates were eager to give testimonies about what had happened to them during the meetings. Genuine revival took place. According to our interpreter, it was the first time these kind of meetings had been seen there. There was a police raid just when we left the building on the last day of the seminar. Glory to God for His protection! We had short notice going to Vietnam but we are happy that we are able to feed the delegates that attended!
- We held two evening evangelistic meetings. One girl got healed instantly and others got baptized in the Holy Spirit. Many invited their friends to attend and receive Jesus Christ. The two meetings were held inside a building owned by a Christian with many look-outs posted to watch for police coming. This church is registered with the government but no foreigners are allowed to use it.
- We ministered at three underground churches. The first church was eight kilometers from the city by taxi. Delia and I were picked up by two motor bikes, passing through the rice fields, so the authorities and non-Christians would not notice. After the rice field we walked for a few minutes around a duckpond then crossed to the river by a very small wooden boat without engine to carry us to the other side where the underground church is. We were instructed not to talk until we reach the underground church. I couldn't hold back my tears while we are walking and being transported, not because of the danger (even in the Philippines we are continuously surrounded by rebels with guns) but because I saw how strong their faith is in God. At the underground church, there were look outs on every side to give us a sign if there are people coming and also to give a sign to lower our voices if the lookout hears our preaching where he is assigned. We ran out of time ministering and had to leave quickly. The second church was fifteen kilometers from the city at a piggery and a fish pond. There were nine people waiting. We gathered on the edge of the fishing pond. It is shaded but you cannot stand, you need to squat. The glory of God was present during the worship. The attendees were crying. They are farmers so I shared from the book of Ruth, how Ruth asked for favor three times. We had to leave because the people in the farm noticed our coming. The third church was 25 to 28 kilometers from the city. We gathered in a house with twenty people. I gave my testimony and others began to give their testimonies. An eight-year-old boy boldly shared his testimony of his parents locking him in his room so that he cannot attend Christian services. A teenage girl shared that her parents hit her when they learned that she is attending Christian services but she said she would not give up Jesus. There were lots of testimonies that really challenge us in the free world.
